Reporters learned from the Binhai High-tech Industrial Zone that as a major new project, the NEVS is to speed up the construction of its new energy vehicles. The joint project of welding assembly plant is currently completed while the coating plant is undergoing the construction of the main structure so workers are stepping up the installation and commissioning of the assembly line of the car assembly, which is expected to be launched next month. Construction of the R & D center and bodybuilders' workshops (including stamping shops, welding shops, painting shops and production line equipment) will be completed by the end of 2017 with the completion of production of the vehicle bodywork.
It is claimed that the NEVS EV Project started construction in October 2015 and was approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) in January 2017 (production qualification). The first pure electric vehicle is scheduled to be officially put into production in June 2018.
