On December 3, the Sino-Singapore BIM Technology Application Forum sponsored by Construction Bureau of the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city and hosted by Tianjin Eco-City Green Building Research Institute Co., Ltd. was held in the Eco-city. The forum invited experts from China and Singapore to discuss the application of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology in the construction industry.
BIM technology is different from traditional three-dimensional drawings, which means before the real construction starts, the simulation is done on the computer for the entire construction process, and then various departments need to submit their opinions and suggestions to solve the design deficiencies and a variety of possible problems in the real construction. This not only can improve construction efficiency, but it can also greatly reduce construction costs so it has become an important measure for the construction industry in its entire life cycle of the operation and management.
"Many BIMs now incorporate the elements of time, and the contractor can even know exactly what's going on each day to ensure the deadline," said Huang Yixiang, Deputy Director of the Building Information Technology Center of the Singapore Construction Bureau. He said that BIM technology also enables better achievement of pre-processing and pre-assembly. "In Singapore, in many buildings, the whole room is assembled in the factory and then is directly shipped to the construction site after the overall assembly, which is convenient and quick."
