FAW-Volkswagen has been in the domestic sedan market for 27 years and finally ushered in its SUV era. On July 30, FAW-Volkswagen's first SUV was officially launched in Shenzhen, which is full of innovation. In the next three years, FAW-Volkswagen will also bring four SUV models to achieve the two wings of the cars and SUVs. The FAW-Volkswagen North China Base, which is expected to be completed and put into operation in Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA for short) in the third quarter of this year, will also provide important support for the FAW-Volkswagen SUV market in the future.
FAW-Volkswagen enters SUV market.
After years of rapid growth since 2010, SUV sales have accounted for nearly half of the domestic passenger car market. According to the statistics of professional institutions, in the first half of 2018, the sales volume of cars and SUVs was 5.2 million and 4.49 million, respectively.
On the one hand, it is a large-scale SUV consumer market, and on the other hand, it is a joint-venture automobile brand that is deeply loved by domestic consumers. The close contact between the two seems to be only a matter of time. On July 30, FAW-Volkswagen's first SUV model T-ROC was officially launched in Shenzhen.
Choosing young and energetic Shenzhen to launch a compact SUV that targets young people, one can see that FAW-Volkswagen is well prepared from the details of the venue selection. The car model is equipped with the Audi A6L panoramic sunroof and the Beats Audio, with a price starting from 139,800 yuan. In the eyes of industry insiders participating in the new car launching activities, FAW-Volkswagen is well prepared.
It is only the beginning. According to the information released by FAW-Volkswagen on the same day, there will be five SUV models coming out in the next three years, covering small SUVs, compact SUVs, medium-sized high-end SUVs and medium and large SUVs, covering all SUV market segments.
North China Base puts into production of new SUVs.
Focusing on the FAW-Volkswagen SUV models, the construction of a new production base will be the core of strategic positioning. With the completion of the FAW-Volkswagen South China Base in June this year, FAW-Volkswagen has four bases in Changchun, Southwest, South China and East China. The North China production base in Binhai New Area is also expected to be completed and put into operation in the third quarter of this year, and the SUV model will become the focus of the base production.
It is claimed that the model that FAW-Volkswagen North China Base plans to produce is a newly developed model of Volkswagen, and adaptability is improved according to the characteristics of China's market. The project is at the first-class level in China regardless of the technical level, production capacity, advanced equipment level or the quality of the company's employees. In the future, the base will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 series of passenger cars, and annual sales revenue is expected to reach 55 billion yuan.
The Base is built with four major workshops and supporting facilities for stamping, welding, painting and final assembly, and is equipped with a complete vehicle logistics park, parts logistics and parts manufacturing. In the first half of this year, the Base has entered the pre-production phase.
In terms of products, two new car models of the FAW-Volkswagen North China Base will be put into production this year, one of which will be the FAW-Volkswagen SUVs. This will undoubtedly provide important support for FAW-Volkswagen to deepen the SUV market.
