Recently, the cross-border e-commerce ecological summit and the northern good source conference hosted by the enterprise Tianjin Fueng Network Technology Co., Ltd. in Tianjin Binhai New Area (TBNA for short) was held. At the meeting, small and medium-sized foreign trade enterprises from Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei gathered together to share new opportunities for foreign trade transformation and explore how to promote the steady growth of foreign trade.
Valves, steel, handicrafts, food... The reporter learned in this activity that with the development of cross-border e-commerce, more and more traditional foreign trade enterprises in TBNA began to seek transformation and embrace the Internet. Through cross-border e-commerce, products “Made in Binhai” are gradually being recognized by the market and exported to overseas.
Leveraging cross-border e-commerce
Located in the Tianjin Economic-technological Development Area (abbreviated as TEDA), Tianjin Kunyu International Trade Co., Ltd. is a food export enterprise specializing in western foods such as ketchup, concentrated juice, concentrated fruit pulp, canned fruits and vegetables, and has many years of foreign trade experience. However, in recent years, this experienced master of foreign trade has encountered development problems.
Chen Gang, the company's marketing director, said in an interview that the company's previous developments were to use the exhibition or search online yellow pages to obtain customer information. However, due to the high cost of exhibition investment and communication fees, the company's profit margin was compressed and limited. In the exhibition time or geographical location factors, the communication effect is not very good, which hinders the development of the enterprise. After the rise of cross-border e-commerce, the company quickly seized the opportunity of transformation and cooperated with Alibaba International Station. Through the big data support of the cross-border e-commerce platform, the customer cost was continuously reduced, and the communication with customers was smoother. “Our sales were only about $3 million a year. Today, this number has been multiplied several times. The company is gradually growing into one of the most influential food producers and suppliers in northern China. The products have been sold to the EU, the US and dozens of countries and regions such as South America, the Middle East, Southeast Asia and Australia," Chen Gang told reporters.
It is also a development opportunity for cross-border e-commerce. Abak (Tianjin) Technology Co., Ltd., located in the central business district of TEDA, has also achieved leapfrog development. According to Ren Xiupeng, general manager of the company, the company was established in 2015. With the cross-border e-commerce platform, the company's main handicrafts have entered the European market and have been favored. The company's sales have also jumped from the initial US$100,000 to this year. It is expected to exceed 15 million US dollars.
The reporter learned at the event that with the help of cross-border e-commerce, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises in TBNA is continuing to improve. In addition to food and handicrafts, valves and steel products with industrial characteristics of TBNA also stabilize the heel on the market with the help of the platform.
Great development potential helps the industry continue to expand.
With the gradual improvement of the cross-border e-commerce growth environment, payment services, logistics platforms and other ecological chains in TBNA, more and more enterprises have joined the cross-border e-commerce transaction model, and related industries are also rapidly expanding here. Only Alibaba Binhai Station can service 60 to 200 companies to achieve rapid growth in just two years.
According to Wang Huadong, TBNA is located at the intersection of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei urban agglomeration, adjacent to Beijing, radiating from three Northern provinces, and has a vast territory. It is the shortest starting point of the Eurasia Continental Bridge and the estuary of many urban areas in the interior of China, with outstanding geographical advantages. At the same time, foreign trade enterprises in TBNA have concentrated early and have mature trading conditions.
The reporter learned that since Tianjin was approved as a pilot city for cross-border e-commerce in China, the cross-border e-commerce in TBNA has developed steadily every year. At present, the software and hardware facilities of TBNA have been gradually improved, and the agglomeration effect has been significantly enhanced. A large number of cross-border e-commerce companies and service providers have settled here. As of the end of last year, there were more than 130 cross-border e-commerce pilot enterprises in TBNA. The industrial development has been very different featuring a large number of cross-border e-commerce companies such as Ali, Jingdong, Shunfeng, Netease Koala, Vipshop, Jumeiyou and so on, as well as a number of warehousing such as Baohong, Songchang, Huayu, Dongfang Ruitai and Xinyi Supply Chain as well as logistics companies and payment companies like Shouxinyi.
In Chen Gang’s view, relying on the Tianjin Pilot Free Trade Zone, the national cross-border e-commerce pilot and the opportunity of industrial cluster development, the cross-border e-commerce of TBNA will achieve rapid development. At that time, it will become an indispensable support for the development of SMEs, and at the same time, it will become a solid driving force for realizing regional economic development.
